Blowing kisses

Yesterday Brandon and I were sitting on the bed with the kids.  Xander was laying on my lap.  He looked up at me, put his hand on his mouth and went, "Mmmwwwah."  I told Brandon, "I think he just blew me a kiss."  Isabela does this, but we have never tried to have Xander do it.  I blew Xander a kiss, and he did it back to me again.  The little guy melts my heart.

Xander also constantly gives me hugs.  He crawls over, climbs up on me, gives me a hug, and climbs back down.  My kids usually aren't very cuddly, but Xander sure givin' me the lovin's, and I love it!

Nothing fancy, but we had a friend at church snap a couple family pictures for us today.

I was working on the computer for a minute and I hear Xander scream out.  I look over to see Isabela half squashing him.  I tell her to get off.  She stands up to show me she put a pink bib on Xander.  Xander is still crying, pulling on the bib, trying to get it off, but looking like he is strangling his neck instead.

I tell Isabela to take off the bib.  She turns, hands or her hips and eyes wide, completely matter-of-fact,
"I can't. I'm gonna eat him!"
Mind you, this all happened within about three seconds.  I laughed, and right about then, Xander stopped pulling on the bib, and therefore, stopped crying as well.  And I believe Isabela meant to say, I'm gonna feed him, but it sure didn't come out that way.

Xander 11 months old!
Xander is 11 months old today.  He says "mama" and "dada," and gives me a big kiss on the cheek when I ask him in Spanish for a kiss. He has been walking along furniture for weeks now, and stands alone if I stand him up.  He did great one time when I helped him, stood there for probably about a minute while holding his sippy cup and drinking his juice.  But a couple of days ago, it looked like he was going to try to stand up by himself, then didn't do it.  Today, I was eating crackers with him on the floor.  He put his hands on my leg and stood right up.  So I moved back a couple feet, held out my hands, and he walked three steps by himself!

It always amazes me how he tries to do things out of order.  He tried walking before he finally crawled out of frustration.  The first time he was by stairs a few months ago, he climbed the whole flight.  He couldn't even crawl yet, so I hadn't worried about stairs.  Now he practically walked before standing up on his own.  He still hasn't stood up in the middle of the room by himself (he still used me as support to get up).  He climbs the foot of Isabela's bed, and climbed up onto a zebra with wheels, and then onto the open door of the dishwasher.  I have a feeling we are going to invest in a jungle gym one day with this little monkey we have.  He climbs everywhere he can.  I just never expect it because he hasn't mastered skills I usually think are necessary for those tasks.  But the surprises keep coming.  He is such a handsome little devil!  I love the little ball of joy he is.  He makes me so happy!
